Reflection: Chai Ming Hui Justin

Pre-camp Reflection(25 May, Monday)
What sounds interesting about this project?
I think that building a structure to withstand force and with environmental constraints would be challenging as we would have to consider the properties of the materials used and see if is it suitable to withstand the force and being large enough to contain the amount of water that is needed.
What do you think you can learn from this project?
I think that this project would better enable me to understand forces and the technique of countering the force found in a water tower to create a solid infrastructure to hold water and also not cause any environmental damage.
Any immediate questions regarding the project?

First Day(26 May, Tuesday)
What did you do today?
We were briefed on the project objective before we began building our prototype. We were then given limited materials such as  base plate, glue, rulers, a geometry set, two pencils, a sharpener, sandpaper and a cutter knife to built our prototype and the structure which can support the most amount of force would be the winning group.
What did you learn today?
I learnt about the different type of failures that can occur when building a water tower: Buckling failure, bending failure, compression failure and punching failure. I also learnt that we need to use our materials constructively or else we not would not be able to produce a quality water tower.
What new questions do you have regarding the discipline?

Second Day(27 May, Wednesday)
What did you do today?
We were given the first half of the day to prepare for our presentation to the entire project group. The teacher then gave us feedbacks and ways to improve our slides as we made the necessary amendments. We then had to present to the entire project group about our experience and learning points of the water tower project.
 What did you learn today?
I learnt about other groups experiences and their difficulty while doing the water tower project and some of them are similar to ours. I also learnt to analyse our problems and the reasons of our failure so that we could improve ourselves if we were tasked to do such a project again. We also had tough question from the audience so we had to think on the spot to answer their question.
What new questions do you have regarding the discipline?
Third Day(28 May, Thursday)
Project Sharing Sessions
Note down at least three key learning points
How do you feel about the SST-NTU Flagship programme?
Describe how the programme has affected your understanding of the discipline on a larger scale
